Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for sending your question.
This is a very good question and I can appreciate that you're dealing with some very bothersome symptoms.
There are a couple of possible causes of the symptoms would you have described.
probably the most common cause of this type of symptom would be a vaginal yeast infection. This can cause significant skin irritation as well as itching. this can be very uncomfortable as well. There are several different possible remedies. You can talk to your pharmacist about obtaining a prescription topical cream which may be of some assistance. Otherwise you can talk to your primary care physician about a possible prescription. There is actually a tablet medication which is very effective at alleviating the symptoms if this is truly a yeast infection.
another possible cause would be atrophic vaginitis. this seems somewhat less likely but should be considered. You can talk about this with your doctor as well.
Thank you again for sending your question. I would encourage you to talk to your doctor about obtaining appropriate prescription or over-the-counter medication.
sincerely,
Dr. Galamaga
