The Past Year , I Was Exposed To Black Mold

Question: The past year , I was exposed to black mold living in an apartment, 6 months ago I had breast surgery with general anesthesia. After surgery , I was unable to speak more than 3 words without losing my voice and feeling short of breath , this lasted approx 4 months. I have been away from the mold 2 months. Voice is some better but still short of breath. Oxygen sats start in the 80s and 94 is as high I can get it. Primary care doc , 2 months ago, labs wnl, chest xr wnl , O2 sat 94, hr 122. CHF neg. PFT in office neg for COPD. She has ordered ECHO and PFT. HX Hypertension., Quit smoking 12 years ago, Gout, Pre-Diabetic, Chronic use of Phentermine. Symptoms Short of Breath, Occ dry cough, B/p controlled ,sinus tachy , EKG wnl, Lasix seems to help shortness of breath and blood pressure, other meds Metformin , Allopurinol prn . 62 yrs old active ,135 lbs , mod drinker, retired RN. Question Should I follow thru with these ordered tests or make an appointment with a pulmonary doc. I fear pulmonary artery hypertension.

So, yes it’s important to get the advised investigations specially echocardiogram done. If some abnormality shows up in echo then u need to consult a cardiologist as well.
