Welcome to XXXXXXX

You have been using the drugs for almost 04 years. you can stop the drug otherwise you will be having uncontrolled blood pressure which itself have many complications. however if you want to have alternate brands in US and Canada. you can have the same drugs in that country too or you can have these until the day of going there and get the same drugs in available brands in US and Canada.

you are currently taking two drugs. You have mentioned their brand names. I will provide you with there generic names and you can ask for any available brands with these generic drugs in any state or country of the world.

1. Metolar AM 50: metoprolol 50mg+ amlodipine 5mg ( this is available in combination)

2.Telma20: telmisartan 20mg

If i stop medicine, I feel very difficult. getting headache, irritation. Other than BP I am perfectly ok with my health. what are the steps to stop my medicines.
My actual history is as below:
On 2009, one day i got some discomfort and having had slight chest pain. I went to doctor and diagnosed my whole body. They took XRAY, ECG, TMT, ECHO etc.,
Doctor said everything looks good only that I need to monitor my BP for one week only then he will give medicine, he said. I became completely stressed and got anxiety and depressed since its a early age. The whole week my BP was not normal showing high. so doctor gave me medicine and after somedays increased dosage also. I want to live without medicine. Please suggest what are the procedures to stop medications without affecting my body.

Thanks for the detailed reply

The anxiety and depression can occur at any age and is most common in young ages. The blood pressure once diagnosed can only be controlled with the drugs but it cannot be cured. To keep blood pressure under normal limits you have to go with the drugs. Although your age is uncommon for hypertension. You can consult you doctor for the drug stopping, which can be possible only under one condition that is if your blood pressure remains normal without taking the drugs and that needs a closed monitoring and observation. one to two weeks time will be enough for observation and if you succeed in that much time that you can use the drug only in case if your blood pressure gets high.

Thanks for your Immediate response.

As you suggested I will check with my doctor and try to stop medicine. One more question, I have Orbitrek machine at home. is it advisable to do exercise in the morning? I am overweight now. I am having BP Monitor machine, so can you please explain how can I test if I am eligible to do exercise. Some people told that after doing exercise, BP should come to normal with apprapriate duration but i dont believe them. can you please let me know your views?

No doubt the exercise is one of the best remedy for most of diseases. With exercise there is increased in demand for blood by the tissues which make increases the blood pressure in the vessel but that increase is physiological and returns to normal after some rest. This increase in blood pressure makes the vessels more elastic which can adjust to various pressures later plus there is burn of fats and cholesterol with exercise that narrows the vessel. The increase demand of blood and oxygen with exercise also have good effects on heart and that is to overcome the demand to heart tissue, there is formation of new vessels in the heart that is called collaterals which are very helpful and prevents from heart attacks by providing additional vessels.

Additionally there is release of epinephrine and nor epinephrine and some additional chemicals like endogenous cannabinoids and opioids which acts as sedatives and naturally cures the depression and anxiety status. Therefore 1 hour daily exercise is very much essential and always recommended.
