Suggest Ways To Rule Out Alzheimer's Disease

Posted on Fri, 8 Sep 2017
Question: I sent a message earlier for a neurologist. I'm not sure if it went through. I will explain my situation again. I was prescribed Lamictal about 1 month ago. I had a horrible rash which was treated by 2% hydrocortazone lotion. It is finally healing. However, this morning at around 7am I called 3 of my friends, did not say anything and hung up. They all knew I am not awake that early in the morning. I have no recollection of calling them. I have several contacts on my phone and these are my closest friends so it was not random. My mother died of Alzheimer's disease so, of course, I am so afraid that this will be my demise.

Brief Answer:
I don't think it is Alzheimer's.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HealthcareMagic.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Just one episode of confusion during sleep does not indicate Alzheimer's, it could be a adverse effect of Lamictal use, anxiety disorder, or it could be just one episode of disturbed sleep that could happen to everyone.

In the other hand, Alzheimer's is known to be a condition that causes cognitive and behavioral impairment that significantly interferes with social and occupational functioning.

So, if you will experience such issues, you should be checked with neuropsychological tests and by your Neurologist.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Take care.
