Question: I encouraged my 14-year-old daughter to use Jolen bleach on the hair between her navel and bikini line, and we followed the directions, but it didn't bleach the hair but instead bleached her skin. She has a swim party tomorrow and is very upset. Is there anything we can do to correct this? Self-tanner, or?

Brief Answer:
sunless tanning is an option but requires experience

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic.

As a temporary measure she can either use a cosmetic camouflage/ concealer preferably a water resistant/ water proof one Or a sunless tanning lotion i. e self XXXXXXX
These are the only feasible options at such a short notice.

Self tanning lotions, particularly a dihydroxyacetone(DHA) based product would provide a temporary XXXXXXX for 7-10 days, however it requires some experience to achieve a color match.
Overdone or underdone, it would look equally bad. Once done the effect would last for 7 days!
Therefore it is always better to start matching from lighter shades and careful reapplication to darker shades till there is color matching with surrounding skin.

Once the temporary purpose is solved thereafter she may use a moderately potent topical steroid e. g triamcinolone scrutinise 0.1%, at the site, twice daily for a few days to get back the lost pigment.

Regards
