Question: 20 month old healthy baby boy, some days sleeps very late at night, midnight or 1 or 2 a.m. playing at night not crying. Cries if forced to sleep. Please help about how to induce sleep by 10 - 11 p.m for this kid. Is this normal ? Can I give some syrup to induce sleep in these days ? Please advise.

Brief Answer:
I would suggest you not to give any medication to induce sleep.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through the details. Let me assure you that a child will get the sleep he requires and you need not worry. If the child feels sleepy, he would go to sleep, if not, do not worry if he remains awake even late in the night. I would not suggest use of any medication to induce sleep. Such medicines would be more detrimental than the lack of sleep itself.

Regards
