Question: I am 35 weeks and half pregnant, and I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes few days ago. My fasting Glucose level is 122 at different times and 170 two hours after meal. I have been placed on insulin provided the insulin successfully control my diabetes can my pregnancy be a full time pregnancy (40 weeks) even if I have been diabetic before pregnancy or I should have planned labour . Also I have been told that my baby weight 9 lb 4 ounces (4.2kg) should I be concerned that his weight might slim down my chances of natural birth.

Brief Answer:
Normal delivery may be a bit risky due to baby weight

Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concern.
I need to know a number of things to answer you better.
1) Is it your first pregnancy?
2) If you have had pregnancies before, what was the mode of delivery? Any complications like diabetes / high blood pressure at that time? And what was baby weight?
3) Any hypertension now?
4) What is your height, weight and race ( caucasian/asian?). The pelvis size is different in different races.

In 35 weeks, baby weight is 4.2 kg and i expect baby weight to be 4.5 to 4.6 kg at full term. Hence, in your case, normal delivery may be a bit risky and the preferred mode will be an elective cessarian sesction around 39 weeks.
