Question: Are there any restrictions to a weight loss diet for a man age 70? I am morbidly obese (5'11" 300 lbs) and have a slightly irregular heartbeat for which I am taking medications related for Afib. Is surgery for weight loss out of the question?

Brief Answer:
No weight loss diet restrictions, just keep it natural

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern, There is no restriction on conservative measures for weight loss in you but as far as bariatric surgery is concerned, that needs anesthesia fitness and with missed heart beats, i believe its a risk , but a good competent surgeon can do it under local anesthesia with minimal invasion so not an absolute contraindication too.

Nutshell, diet lifestyle adjustments for weight loss and let your doctors decide if there is of possibility bariatric surgery that you can go through under minimal anesthesia preferably local one.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please

In a recent trip to California (where all 'trends' begin) it seemed like every other billboard I saw was promoting fat reduction surgery. Apparently there is a more aggressive surgical procedure (compared to liposuction) which is involves removing fat in places where it has accumulated (belly, lower belly, 'love handles', etc). According to what I have seen on documentaries more fat is removed than liposuction. So, my question is, are you familiar with this type of surgery, and do you think it is something I should followup with a physician about?

Brief Answer:
Bariatric surgery only

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

Liposuction is just a cosmetic surgery and does not help with obesity , thats why i don't recommend liposuction . The preferable surgery with therapeutic outcomes and real benefits is bariatric surgery and this is what you should opt for.

I hope it helps. talk to your doctor and let them decide what is best for you.

Khan
