Brief Answer:
avoid purees at any cost

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
It is a common trouble which many parents face.
Babies tend to take purees only if they have been predominantly given that before.
Note that change to solids wouldn't happen overnight.
What you can do is to mix purees with solids or coat solid food with purees initially.
Start trying various flavours in solid food.
Any food you eat can be given at this age to your child provided it is home made and softer and easy to swallow.
If needed you may have to starve him for few hours so that he starts taking solids.
Eating together as a family especially if possible with another child alongside might help a lot.
Encourage him to eat from his own plate.
Let him spill and play with the food.
That is how kids start loving their food
Wishing your kid good health.

Brief Answer:
will take time

Detailed Answer:
If despite starving, he doesn't take you need to go back to purees.
But keep trying repeatedly.
It might take a few weeks.
Don't worry.
