Brief Answer:
Convalescence period after viral infection

Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concerns. Really sorry to hear about your problems.
Your weight loss probably was due to stress itself. Metformin contributes to weight loss. Since you have lost weight and as your sugars are okay now, you may stop taking Metformin.

It is common to have tiredness after a viral illness and it takes longer to recover from it beyond the age of 60 years. However, once you recover from the viral illness, your appetite is likely to improve and weight also will increase.

Will my levels go back up so that I'm not bottoming out so much? I still can't sleep well and I wake up when I do sleep in a hot flush and sweat, I am trying to eat a little bit every few hours but the levels keep going down not as low as before but still very low for me.
What else can I do?

Brief Answer:
Simple diet and rest

Detailed Answer:
Once you start eating well and as your weight improves, your sugar levels may go up again and at that point of time, you may need to be started on Metformin again.

The hot flushes /sweats are probably part of viral illness itself. Simple easy to digest food and absolute rest is necessary. Drink sufficient fluids to avoid dehydration from fever and sweats. You lose lot of water from body during febrile illness and that makes you tired. Panadol may be necessary if the temperature is above 100 degree F.
