Question: My son was taking 3600 mg gabapentin and 400 mg Tramadol. He had been taking this for several years for nerve pain. This medication was stopped abruptly. Within 48 hrs he had a seizure and suffered a bad fall. Can sudden cessation of these medications be the cause of his seizure? He does not have a history of a seizure disorder.

Brief Answer:
The seizure was due to drug withdrawal

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concern.
Yes, sudden cessation of these drugs may lead to seizure.
Gabapentin is used as antiepileptics too and sudden withdrawal may cause seizures.
Visit to a neurologist and restart the drugs.
