Question: Hi Sir,
I am 26 years old male (circumcised). Few months ago I noticed two small round white dry spots on my penis head located at each side. These patches were clearly visible. I worried for a while but after few days I thought it was no big deal and just forgot about them. But today I noticed bigger white dry spots on the head and shaft of my penis which freaked me out. These spots are now more solid and clearly visible than earlier. But one thing I noticed is that when I put some water on affected areas of my penis and rub it for a while, The spots gradually disappear and are no more visible to eye. But after sometime when the water dries when I dry my penis with a cloth, The white dry spots become visible once again thereby making me sad and worried. I dont know what it is and what caused these spots on my penis? I'm so much tensed and worried about it.
I need your help sir, What should I do for these dry white spots on my penis to go away completely. Is this a fungal infection that caused these spots ?

Brief Answer:
Suggestive of Lichen planus.

Detailed Answer:

Dear XXXX, Hi
Welcome back.

Noted the contents of your reply, thanks.
After having gone through the uploaded pictures and the information given in your reply I am of the opinion that you are suffering from a condition which is called as Lichen planus.
It is not due to fungal infection & hence not an infectious disease.
In most cases, the cause of lichen planus can't be found.
It is not caused by stress, but sometimes emotional stress makes it worse.
This disorder has been known to occur after contact with certain chemicals, such as those used to develop color photographs.

My advice is:

1. Continue taking the prescribed treatment by your dermatologist.
2. Avoid stress
3. Maintain good hygiene.
4. It is unlikely to affect your general health

Hope to have answered your query.

Wishing you best of your health.
