Suggest Treatment For Vomiting, Lighter Stools And Diaper Rashes In A Child

Question: My 5 month old baby has not been eating well today, and just projectile vomited her last bottle. She also has a very angry red diaper rash for 3 days. Her stool has been progressively lighter and less and has cottage cheese like bits in it. Her temp (forehead scan) was 99.5. She usually takes 4 8oz bottles of formula per day. This is her first week without nursing twice a day as well (she started refusing the breast). Are these teething symptoms or something I need to take her to a doctor for?

Brief Answer:
Stomach infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Can understand your concerns.

By what you quote, it seems that the child has got stomach infection. Since, she has vomiting, lighter stools and rash which occur in stomach infection.

At this age, child usually put everything in mouth which results in stomach infection. Teething doesn't occur at 5 month of age, it starts after 7 months. For teething vitamin d drops are usually given till 1 year of age.

Since, baby is small, you should get the child examined so that we may not miss important finding.

I hope this will help you.
Wishing your child good health.
Take care.
