Brief Answer:
Could be acute gastritis or irritable bowel syndrome.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

Stomach upset is a common symptom seen nowadays but can you tell me is there any specific diet after which you get stomach upset and loose motions.

The causes could be acute gastritis or irritable bowel syndrome or acute gastroenteritis but it will need further evaluation to diagnose correctly with some medical tests and clinical examination by a gastro physician.

So,You may need to undergo routine blood investigations and H.pylori, liver function tests, urinalysis and stool, abdominal ultrasound and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy to detect the underlying cause.

Treatment is mainly depend on the cause but you may take symptomatic treatment meanwhile.

Although, there may not be any permanent cure for the problem and it's management relies on diet and lifestyle modifications along with certain medications.

Diet and Lifestyle Modifications like avoiding Pulses and Beans, food with high amounts of refined sugars will help.

Medications like Loperamide (Brand Name: Eldoper) has been used in the management of stomach upset with diarrhea. But it must be used with caution because the more you use it, the higher risk of getting an infection in your bowels. You should use only 1 or 2 tablets in a day under your doctor's supervision.

Antispasmodics like Mebeverine (Brand Name: COLOSPA) has also been used to regulate the bowel.

Antacids like h2 blockers (ranitidine) or proton pump inhibitors (pantoprazole or rabeprazole) will help.

So,you should see the gastrophysician urgently who will examine you and order relevant tests and prescribe the above medications.

Hope this detailed answer will help.

Dear Dr XXXXXXX
I have done most of the tests, except Endoscopy and H pyron. This I may do. I take blood pressure and diabetic medicines also under supervision. During tests, My prostrate came out enlarged, weighing 35.5 gms against normal 25 mg. Other things seem intact, except frequent urination at night. Could there be any connection.

Brief Answer:
Does not seem to be any connection with your stomach symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr XXXXXXX
Thanks for the immediate follow-up.

It good that you have already done some medical tests which might have come normal as I guess but in this kind of problems we generally suspect either acute gastritis or irritable bowel syndrome as I discussed earlier.

So,upper GI endoscopy is the key investigation which might give some clue here.

You can continue your medications for DM and HTN and hope your blood sugar and pressure will be under control.

Your diabetes or prostate enlargement could be the reason for frequent urination but it has no connection with your stomach symptoms.

So,you may consult gastroenterologist who will start medications at earliest as we discussed in previous answer. The definitive treatment will depend upon the underlying cause.
