Brief Answer:
Dots maybe petechia

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns.

You have noticed small red dots on your feet. As part of your premium question you can include pictures. If you can, please take some pictures and attach then to your question. This will greatly help me in diagnosing your condition.

I would also request that you include a list of your medications including aspirin or ibuprofen as these can all cause skin reactions.

In my practice I have several patients that have skin changes associated with their feet. The most common cause is small bruising called petechia that occur on the feet especially if you have edema.

I look forward to your response

Brief Answer:
Petechia

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for returning to HCM with your response.

I see from you information you have diabetes and hypertension. This combination frequently causes the feet to swell and to have these small petechia. These petechia are small vessels that have burst and then they leave brown and reddish marks on your skin. These are like little tattoos that will not resolve. When the vessels break the little bit of blood and the iron from the blood gets imbedded in the skin leaving these permanent red spots. These spots are not dangerous but they will be there for the rest of your life. The best thing to do to prevent then is keep good control of your diabetes and hypertension. Exercise daily and keep your weight under control. If you have them wear good supportive socks that prevent swelling or edema.

In summary
1. petechia small broken blood vessels
2. permanent spots
3. maintain good control over diabetes and hypertension
4. exercise daily and reduce weight
5. wear supportive socks to prevent edema

I hope this answers your question. Please contact HCM again with your health care questions or concerns
