Detailed Answer:
Hi,thank you for posting your query on health care magic.

The cause for the clicking sound in the ear might be due to following reasons:

1.)Temporomandibular joint Click-due to loosening of ligaments around the joint or dislocation of joint-in such a case ,the click will be heard on opening and closing your jaw.If such is your case, then it would be advisable to consult a dentist or an ENT specialist doctor..

2.)Eustachian tube blockage-It is a tube which connects the middle ear with the nose.In case of cold or throat infection,it may get blocked.During swallowing or yawning movements-it may produce a click sound.
If such is your case, then you may find relief by taking Oral Decongestant like Phenylephrine and Nasal Decongestant drops like Xylometazoline(if you are not suffering from Hypertension) and Mucolytic like Ambroxol..Also do steam inhalation.

3.)Palatal myoclonus-it is a spam of muscle of your palate producing a click sound. It can be diagnosed by an ENT specialist doctor by observing your soft palate during Nasal Endoscopic examination.Muscle relaxants may help in such a case.

4.)Spasm of middle ear muscles.Your doctor may see the movement of your ear drum at the time of click sound. In such a case also, muscle relaxants may be tried.

So,it would be advisable to consult an ENT specialist doctor for Examination of your ear and treat accordingly.

Hope this answers your question.Take care.
