Brief Answer:
It shows keratoconus in right eye.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I reviewed your history and the reports attached with this question.

The orbscan shows corneal thinning in right eye and left eye is normal. This is keratoconus.
However no need to worry the corneal thinning in right eye mild to moderate and can be easily treated.

The first step to be done is vision and refraction testing. The correction can be given in the form of spectacles or contact lenses.
If the corneal thinning is progressive you need to go for simple procedures like corneal collagen cross linking to prevent progression of the corneal thinning.

The other procedures which can be done are intra corneal ring implantation and these are required in advanced cases.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Do write back to me for any further questions, I will be happy to answer.

Thank you

I have been wearing spectacles since last 8 years.
What kind of surgery would you recommend? I hope this is not an advanced case.
and this corneal thing has been since last 2 years. i went to another doctor 2 years back with the same symptoms and he said it was normal and gave me drops.

Is there anyway to control this without surgery?

Brief Answer:
You need corneal collagen crosslinking.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thank you for the follow up question.

Keratoconus is usually a self limiting disorder and it is characterized by corneal thinning. Usually by thirty years of age the keratoconus will stabilize and will not show further progression. Since you are aged 23 years now this can progress a little more than the present amount.

The treatment options for you are
1. To undergo corneal collagen cross linking to arrest further progression and use spectacles or contact lenses

2. To wait for 3-6 months and undergo repeat orbscan and to undergo corneal collagen cross linking later if there is definite progression.

However I personally feel option number 1. suits you as the orbscan in right eye is showing corneal thinning.

Hence discuss with your doctor regarding both these options and decide accordingly.

Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.

Thank you

there is no other way apart from surgery?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dadapeer K (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
It is for one eye.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thank you for the follow up question.

In your case only right eye is showing problem and left eye is normal.
Hence treatment is required only for right eye.
The cost I mentioned is for one eye.

There is no other treatment other than surgery for keratoconus.

Hope the information is helpful to you.
