Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Food Poisoning

Question: Hello, I have been suffering from some issues for six days now and I was hoping for some help. Here is a timeline with my symptoms.
Day 0: I ate sushi and oysters at dinner. I don't know if this is the cause, but symptoms began about 10 hours after this meal.
Day 1: I woke up early in the morning due to abdominal discomfort. I vomited (this is rare for me, I have not vomited in 7 years). Vomit was clear liquid with black and yellow chunks. I didn't vomit again that day. The rest of the day I had diarrhea and felt nauseated.
Day 2: I felt better in the morning, by the evening, the nausea had returned.
Day 3: Diarrhea, nausea, lack of appetite, lack of energy.
Day 4: Same as day 3, with the addition of heartburn and very distinct sulfur burps. The sulfur burps became very pronounced and kept me awake at night. If I tried to lay down, a painful gas bubble would form in my esophagus and the only way to expel it is to stand up.
Day 5: Same as day 4. I went to see a doctor on this day and he gave me script for Zofran for the nausea and omeprazole for the indigestion. I began taking both medicines right away. But I felt little to no relief.
Day 6: Even with the zofran and the omeprazole I still feel nauseated and I still have heartburn and sulfur burps. I still had a hard time sleeping agian last night because painful gas would build up and I would need to stand up to burp. Sometimes the gas would bring bile into my esophagus and my mouth, but not enough to make me vomit. My stools were solid today, but I still have very little energy and no appetite.

I have IBS, so I am used to having bouts of diarrhea and small amounts of heartburn. However, I have never had nausea like this and I am starting to get concerned by the painful heartburn/indigestion and the sulfur burps and the lack of energy.

Brief Answer:
Food poising

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I read carefully all your concerns and I am sorry for the situation you are in.

You are reporting to have ate sushi and oysters at dinner. After 10 hour you have vomited and diarrhea.

This is a typical clinic of oysters and sushi poising. Especially oysters are associated with Vibrio vulnificus bacterial infection.

The sulfur burps are due to over production of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) by bacterial infection.
Meantime I would suggest as follow :
- use plenty of water
- use liquid diet
- take rest
- avoid foods reashed in fat and sugar.
- take frequent sips of a rehydration drink (such as Pedialyte)
- continue using omeprazole and zofran
- use espumisan and
- start probiotics
I suggest to discuss with your doctor about antibiotic treatment since you have been for five days with diarrhea. It will help to get relive faster.

Wish you fast recovery.
