Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Groin Area

default
Posted on Mon, 22 Jun 2015
Question: I can feel lymph modes in my groin. Two are non-tender and are XXXXXXX when I feel them and one doesn't move when I feel it. They don't bother me - I noticed in the mirror. I am tiny and have had no symptoms or trauma to legs etc. they are about the size of a pea.

Is this something to be concerned about?

Brief Answer:
Ultrasound and biopsy should be done.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Thank you for the query.

If you are thin person and lymph nodes are similar on both sides, this can be nothing serious.
But if the lymph nodes have appeared some time ago (so you havent had them like that for ever) and you are able to palpate them on one side only, this can not be left alone.
Lymph nodes can get enlarged due to inflammation or cancer (including lymphoma).

That is why I suggest you to consult your doctor with thi issue. Ultrasound should be done and biopsy considered.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Thank you - I can feel two on the left side and one on the right. Does the fact that one doesn't move cause additional concern?

Brief Answer:
This is rather nothing concerning.

Detailed Answer:
Generally for someone who is not experienced in physical examination, it is very hard to correctly evaluate lymph nodes. So even if one of this lymph nodes does not move, it does not mean that it is suspicious.
We call lymph node suspicious when it is painless, hard, with rough surface, large, irregular and immobile. If yours is like that, ultrasound and biopsy is a good idea. Otherwise just keep it under observation.
