Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lymph Node Under The Ear

default
Posted on Tue, 25 Oct 2016
Question: I have a swollen right clavicle lymph node and a right swollen lymph node under my ear. No pain, but weight
loss of 12 lbs in the past 5 months. No night sweats.
Could this be lymphoma or other type of cancer? Had a colon examine 4 years ago. 2 polyps removed with no cancer. Not sure how fast colon cancer can grow. Hopefully it would not metastasis that quick
Pardon my spelling.
Thank you, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
I do not think this is Cancer. Please get examined.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Health Care Magic and Thanks for your question.
I dont think you need to worry about cancer upfront.
The location of the node does not usually signify cancer. But I do suggest that you get yourself examined thoroughly by your Physician or GP and get basic investigations done. This will show up whether there is any doubt of cancer. The location of lymph node swelling is suggestive of infection in the throat or scalp. If the node swelling is large enough then an FNAC could be done. This is a test in which they put small needle in the lump and examine it under a microscope to see what is the growth and can rule out cancer with some certainty.
Please do get it checked.
Take care and do let me know if there are any queries on this issue.

Brief Answer:
Clavicle cannot swell without injury.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,
Thank you for your answer.
Clavicle is a bone and it cannot swell unless they have been broken due to some trauma or injury.
Please do let me know if there is something I can clarify.

Brief Answer:
It could be another node swelling. Please get it evaluated.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your answer.
That could be another node swelling in the Supra-clavicular region.
This should be seen by a Doctor and an FNAC should be done if it is size of a cm or more.
Without getting examined it would be very difficult to comment.
Usually, however, Left sided supra-clavicular nodes are more worrisome for cancer. But I do suggest that you should get yourself evaluated for this as well.
Take care and do let me know if I can be of further guidance.
Please stay healthy and all the best.
Dr Rishi.
