Posted on Mon, 20 Jul 2015
Question: I had rashes when I was diving. It became worse and there's blisters. Therefore I took klacid together with either piriton, Zyrtec or Atarax. The fourth day of taking klacid I had UTI and started taking Ciprofloxacin but after the first day my eyes are swollen. So I stopped taking Cipro. But today is the third day after I stopped taking Cipro but my eyes are getting worse. I tried cold treatment. It didn't help. I take Zyrtec once a day.

Brief Answer:
Allergic reaction

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for the query and photograph.

I can see swelling in periorbital region. Yes, you probably have developed an allergic reaction. Fluid gets collected in allergies and leads to swelling around eye.
It's good you have taken zyrtec.

I treat such cases with a small dose of steroid and normal saline compress.
Dip a clean cloth in cold normal saline and place it on the eyes. Let it be there for 10 min, repeat it three times a day for three days. This will help in relieving swelling.
Continue zyrtec.

If you don't get better or rather if it gets worse in the next few days, steroid preparations will benefit you. You would need to meet a physician as steroids need prescription.

Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

No worries Dr XXXXXXX I'm able to get medication without prescription for my own use in my country. Just let me know which sterioid I'll go to the pharmacy to get it. My eyes are still swollen and look puffy.
