Question: My son's friend just got in a fight and got the tar beat out of his eyes. They are swollen and the eyes are red. Is there anything I can do to relieve the swelling and redness?

Should I take him to the ER

Brief Answer:
Yes, you should take him to an E.R

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

In case of traumatic injuries that you described, E.R evaluation is essential. Any significant head injury associated with the swollen/ bruised eyes should warrant a CT scan. The eyes would also need to be assessed for injury and debris. Tetanus toxoid prophylaxis and wound care would also be required if any open wounds are present. Take him to an E.R near you, immediately.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
