Brief Answer:
There can be injury to the floor of the orbit or any of the smaller vessels

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. The eye is an important organ used for visual perception of objects. It is protected by the eye socket which is called the orbit located in the front of the skull.

2. The orbit has a floor, roof, and inner or medial wall and outer or lateral wall.

3. The eye is in the form of an eyeball or globe which is placed on a cone of six muscles which regulate the direction in which we see. The image which we see is transmitted through a nerve called optic nerve which originates in the central portion of the back of the eyeball. There are many small arteries and veins located around the eye and giving blood supply.

4. From the above description of the eye and the eye socket, it is true that punching in the eye can cause injury to one or more of the structures in and around the eye.

5. The possible cause of a swollen lower eye lid and aches might be from injury to the floor of orbit or the the eye. This requires a clinical examination by the ophthalmologist to know if there is any minor loss of visual acuity or movement of the eyeball and they might recommend a CT scan or MRI scan of the orbit to know any specific injury which is causing your symptoms.

Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.
