Brief Answer:
Varicose Veins, Symptomatic care. Wait till tuesday. No need for ER

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. With long term history fo varicose veins and a lot of walking in the job, these swellings and redness and pain at the varicose vein site is very common because of increased pressure building in the calves muscles. Just get him some pressure stocking to wear which will help the flow against gravity in legs and advise him t elevate his limbs every hour or two for a few minutes to keep the blood flowing. It is not a surgical emergency but he should get it corrected at an earliest convenience by minimal invasive techniques.

get him evaluated also for deep veins by doppler studies to rule out any deep vein involvement in which case the varicose veins correction will be delayed till deep venous involvement clears.

i hope it helps. take good care of yourself and your husband and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
