Question: I have swelling on the inner side of my right ankle, tender to the touch, black and blue from heel to mid foot. No problems walking. It's about five to seven days since I realized this. I'm not sure of the precipitation?

Brief Answer:
If don't recall trauma, following tests rule out cardiac/liver/kidney issues

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concern.

The swelling on the inner side of your right ankle, tender to the touch, black and blue from heel to mid food makes me think of possible injury you might have at that time without noticing.

I need to know if you are taking any blood thinning medication on regular basis?
Any blood test done so far?

If you do not recall any trauma, then, should get further tests to exclude heart problems. I suggest to consult with your primary first and get some basic tests like:
- complete blood count
- coagulation/hemorrhage time
- prothrombin time
- INR
- urine analysis
- kidney/liver function tests

Then, can be referred to the cardiologist for further cardiac tests: echocardiogram, ECG, and echo doppler of the leg's blood vessel.

After analyzing all the tests results, we can determine the right problem and get it cured properly.

Hope it helped!
