Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Left Ankle
Question: Lately and randomly I have had swelling in my left ankle that comes and goes....over the past couple weeks. Tonight my calf area on my left leg felt achey, even behind my knee. When I went to rub it, I realized that my calf is swollen and huge It's like theres a large water balloon inside my cald. Swollen, achey. I am 53 years old, very active and healthy. It is visibly enlarged. Skin is thight too. Like blown up. And achey from back of knee to anke....which now looks like a cankle. Any idea what the heck is going on?Or what I should do?
Calf is ballooned up and huge and achey......
what is wrong and what should I do?

Brief Answer:
Baker's cyst. Needs further investigation
Detailed Answer:
Hi there
Thanks for the query
It appears that you have a Baker's cyst in the back of your knee and calf due to arthritis of the knee.
I advise you to get an ultrasound scan and an Xray of the knee to confirm.
Avoid squatting, cross leg sitting, climbing stairs and kneeling. Apply elastic crepe bandage for compression.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
