Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Gum While On Advil

Question: I have only 5 front teeth on the bottom. But now i have never had this my whole life and im 57 now, but anyway now i have this clicking sound on one side of my mouth. I cant afford to go to a dentist thats why im here. Could this just be temporary? My gums do feel alittle bit swollen. And two or 3 months ago i took a bad fall on the ice and ended up going to the ER cause my head was bleeding, but im ok now with that, could that cause this? What can i do? I have been doing salt rinses. and taking advil. Will this go away?forgot to tel you i have bottom dentures but they hurt to much to put in. I also have top dentures which i do wear. I have had this for around 2 or 3 days now.

As per your complain clicking sound from the jaw joint on one side that is happening since 2 or 3 days along with swollen gums and history of wearing dentures..

Well, your clicking sounds and gum swelling can be due to different causes..
Gum swelling can be due to mild gum infection..
Clicking sound generally occurs due to causes like teeth clenching habit, teeth grinding ( not relevant for you as you do not have teeth)..
If your bite is off, that can be due to defect in your denture can also cause it..
There can be other causes too..

Please answer the following questions so that I can guide you better..

1.Do you have pain along with clicking sound?
2.Do you bite anything really hard recently or some cause of opening mouth too wide?
3.Do you have any difficulty in biting from your dentures and do you feel any off bite?
4.Do you have any pain or clicking in any other joints in body?
5.Did you hurt your jaw when you have fallen 3 months ago?
6.Do you have pain during chewing or opening the mouth wide?
7.Do you have stress due to which you clench your teeth?

Hi

No i dont have any pain with the clicking sound.

I did bite a really hard cookie the other day.

My dentures the bottom ones hurt to bad when i put them in.

I dont think i hurt my jaw when i fell the doctor there looked at all of that.

no i dont have any pain opening my mouth wide.

But i do have A LOT of stress right now, my Dad passed away in January, My Aunt in May, a neighbor of ours in XXXXXXX ..Its still so hard for me every single day. I miss them all so very much. And now selling my Dads house where we grew up in, is causing me a lot of stress...So i would say yes i do have ALOT of stress right now. Plus my son has autism. Could i use warm salt water to get the swelling down? It dosent hurt when i open my mouth. But my gums do.

As per your query there is a strong possibility that you are developing teeth clenching habit due to stress that is the cause of clicking..
As you do not have any pain or any other symptoms, you do not need medicines right now..

Try to relieve stress by doing deep breathing exercises and meditation..
Be strong and patient as all the bad days will definitely pass soon..

For pain in gums it seems to be due to trauma caused by your denture as there must be some irregular, pointed and sharp areas over the tissue surface of the denture..
You need to get it evaluated and smoothened by your dentist..
Also get the bite of your dentures checked to eliminate it as a cause for clicking...

will this go away?...I ate yesterday and its clicking but not as bad...Can i use warm salt water?

Could this happen from using ear plugs at night?..Seems like they push down on my neck and jaw. I stopped using them see if that helps.

As per your complain at times clicking resolves on its own if it is due to some minor injury..
Earplugs generally do not cause clicking but can cause ear related problems so should be avoided..

So as of now take a soft diet and avoid excessive mouth opening like during laughing, yawning etc..
