Question: Hello Doctor,

One of my finger started swelling yesterday. The swelling increased today with pain when touched. I attached the pic of the finger. Please provide your feedback if it can be due to some insect bite or due to some other reason.

Thanks & Regards,
Ashish

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Yes,there is slight redness, swelling and this is called cellulitis and this is sign of bacterial infection. Cause may be injury, insect bite or erysipelas. In every case, you should apply cold compresses, take ibuprofen400 mg 3x daily and take amoxycilin 3x1g for 5 days. Amoxycillin is an antibiotic; a prescription drug and your local doctor will know about it.

Wish you good health. Regards
