Question: Yesterday in the AM my feet & ankles were normal, then by mid afternoon & evening they were swollen.
This AM in the AM they were pretty much normal but now this evening they are swollen again but not as bad as yesterday. What would be the cause as I really have had them swell this much & this fast before.

Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxx
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
How was your day?

Hope this message finds you in good health.
I have gone through your complaints and understand your concern.

Considering your age, such type of swelling usually comes in following cases.-

1. soft tissue swelling- inflammation of soft tissues in feets and ankles causing localised swelling

2. excessive Protein loss in urine- causing low protein levels in blood, resulting in swelling and fluid collection in our body.

3. If you are on anti-hypertensive tablets, fluid collection is one of the side effects of such tablets.

4. derangements in blood - can cause swelling- like raised uric acid levels

5. renal function impairment- can also result in such swelling.

6. deep vein thrombosis- blood clot in veins causes stagnation of blood in veins causing swelling.

I suggest you to get a detailed blood profile done to find out the root cause. Depending upon the blood reports,we can start appropriate medicines.
Till then applying compression bandage/stockinettes and leg elevation will help.

You should eventually get back to normal in coming few days.Nothing to worry about, as long as i am there to help you.
I hope your question has been answered.
Feel free to consult me anytime for follow-up queries. Take care,God bless.
Wish you a healthy life : )
