Posted on Thu, 14 Jul 2016
Question: I had CBC done due to swelling in feet as well as skin infection on breast and my WBC is high - 12.5. Lymphs is 4.1 x 10E3/ul and Neutrophils was 7.8 x 10E3/ul. Because it is an urgent care facility and they will not prescribe anything and I do not have primary care physician. I just finished a round of antibiotics so I am wondering how urgently I need to seek out a physician.

Brief Answer:
Urgency depends on symptoms like fever.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
You have an elevated WBC and Neutrophil count indicative of a bacterial infection.
What was the antibiotic you have taken recently and when did it finish.
Do you have fever or any systemic symptoms. The urgency regarding treatment with another antibiotic depends on your symptoms. If you don't have fever or other symptoms, you may use a local antibiotic like Bactroban till you are able to see a doctor who will prescribe you a systemic antibiotic.
Is the swelling of feet something new or you were having it for sometime? Is there any pain and tenderness. If these are present , it requires further investigation.
Take care

Antibiotic was CLINDAMYCIN HCL 300 MG CAPSULES 3 TIMES A DAY FOR 7 DAYS. Swelling in feet has come and gone since I started HBP medication, LISINOPRIL 10MG PER DAY. My temperature is usually below normal and has been at 98.9 recently. Swelling in feet is more prevalent after activity.

Brief Answer:
Requires to be followed up

Detailed Answer:
Lisinopril does not cause swelling of feet unlike calcium channel blockers. It would be better to check out your liver and kidney functions if not already done.
If the temperature crosses 100 degrees, you should see a doctor without delay.
