Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Armpits

default
Posted on Fri, 22 Sep 2017
Question: I have a swelling in both armpits. The right one has been there for a over a year. I went and got it checked out last year and was told it was wasn't cancer but the doctors weren't sure what it was. It rarely ached so I let it be and now the left side has swelled as well starting last Tuesday. It aches continuously. I also feel a slight numbness in my left arm and some kind of mass right below my armpit and next to my breast where it aches the most. I have an appointment with my primary next Tuesday. What is this and do I need to go into the hospital immediately?

Brief Answer:
It could be Lipoma.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Swellings in the armpits could be Lipoma, a collection of fat.
Another possibility is enlarged Lymph nodes.
Cancer is a rare possibility.

I would like to get a FNAC (Fine needle aspiration cytology) of the swelling. If the exact diagnosis is not confirmed, Biopsy has to be done.

It is not an Emergency. You can wait till your appointment.

Nothing to worry.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.

Wish you good health.
Regards
