Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Spreading Redness In The Cornea

Question: Husband has red, swollen area inside corner of eye. Twice size of yesterday. Spreading over the eye. Past history of eye herpes. What should he do? Thanks.

My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
This is a lid margin infection and needs antibiotics orally.That is the reason why it is increasing rapidly.
He has to have hot foamentation twice a day for 5 minutes.
Antibiotic of choice for such lid margin infection is doxycline 100 mg.twice a day.Along with that though he is alredy having aspirin and if there is pain then ibuprofen 400 mg.twice a day can be taken.

Since the pharmacy said I cannot get any antibiotic without a script, then I still
have to go see a doctor so this online medical advice didn't really help much. Can you send me a script, please?

Thanks for getting back to us.
This infection is at its peak and will have only downhill course.Twice a day warm compress and aspirin will resolve this.as you have already seen that it has stopped spreding.
Continue with this and he will be recovering quickly.
