Question: Hi,

Due to roaming under scorching sun, my face, full arms and my toe is tanned completely. How do I get rid of that XXXXXXX now. I use sunscreen lotion. Even then it doesn't seem effective. And I have acne marks on my face and there is uneven skin tone on my face. Wil a medicated face wash or cream or soap help me to get rid of this XXXXXXX on the affected areas or is there any other way to treat this. And there are small pimples beneath the lower lip, over the chin. I had another query, is chemical peeling safe on the skin or not? Kindly advise. I have attached the pictures for reference.

Chemical peeling, medicated face wash and antiacne gek

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and i have also reviewed the images.

I would first and foremost suggest chemical peeling sessions with glycolic acid. This would help get red of XXXXXXX lighten acne marks as well as even out skin tone.
For acne below lower lip you may use adapalene gel(deriva-cms gel), once daily at night. A medicated face wash containing glycolic acid and salicylic acid would be ideal in your case e.g AHA Glow -S foamy face wash. It would help exfoliate excess XXXXXXX pigment and also reduce new acne.
In addition you must use a non -comedogenic sunscreen throughout the day e.g Suncote gel sunscreen or sunscros soft gel sunscreen to prevent further taning along de-taning products & chemical peeling sessions.

but is that chemical peeling safe on the skin? my skin is the combination of oiliness and dryness. oil gets secreted on my forehead, nose and chin. my cheeks are dry. I have heard some telling about the adverse effect of getting a chemical peeling done. so I am a bit worried to give a try for chemical peeling. and can that sunscreen lotion be used on arms and foot too.

Brief Answer:
chemical peeling is safe

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Glycolic acid chemical peeling is safe and effective. It has multiple advantages like oil control, evens out tone, useful for post acne dark spots and is also antiageing.
Yes, sunscreen can be used on any exposed skin. While i suggested you chemical peeling for face, you may also try demelan cream initially for a few weeks i.e for face, arms and feet, once daily at night, in addition to sunscreen during day. Demelan cream contains glycolic acid in addition to arbutin and kojic acid. It is also effective demelanising and antiageing cream.

I had consulted a dermatologist few months ago and he had suggested for a salicylic peeling in order to get rid of pigmentation, XXXXXXX and acne marks. so shall I go for salicylic peeling or glycolic peeling or does either of them yield the same results?
