Question: Hello doc

Four months back i had an MRI which showed subtle cortical thickening with bone edema(likely stress fracture) in my medial femoral neck.
After four months tat is yesterday ..i again went for MRI which showed resolution of bone edema wit persistent visualisation of cortical thickening.
I am worried wat does it mean..has the fracture heeled..if the fracture has heeled then yy the cortical has thickened.please advice

Brief Answer:
Fracture healed.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

As bone edema was resolve so stress fracture is healed .
Once their subtle cortical thickening occurs it remains forever so don't think about it . Fracture is headed.

I hope this answers your query. In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out. Wishing you good health.

Brief Answer:
Pain will gradually subside.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The slight ache on bearing weight can happen after healing also. You need to start bearing the weight gradually and avoid stressful activities like running for now. Gradually the ache will subside in few weeks. The bone remodelling takes place after the healing and the bone gains strength gradually. You can start with partial weight bearing with the help of a walker.
