Question: 2 1/2 yr old toddler didn't stutter.
A few weeks ago fell off couch onto back & back of head on hardwood floor. Did not vomit or pass out, but cried.
two days latter he started stuttering, at times very pronounced. puts his hands up to face in probable frustration when trying to get a word out. our daughter and we, the grandparents let it run its course until he speaks the word. XXXXXXX was seen by a Pediatrician the following week who sent him to see a Dr that day but at the ER they said there was no sign of neurological damage but only did not run any tests on him.
It is now about a month later and XXXXXXX is still stuttering. He sees his GP this week. To me this is not a coincidence.
what is your advice on this.

Thank you

Brief Answer:
Fall

Detailed Answer:
Hello. I just read through your question.
The story is very compelling and seems to draw a line between the fall and the new stuttering. Naturally, in this forum, I can't prove or disprove your theory.
I would say this though. We have a 2.5 yo child who never stuttered before but is stuttering now. No matter what circumstances may or may not have surrounded this, this is a child I want evaluated by a good pediatric neurologist. Not in in an ER, but in an office setting. It could turn out that the fall was related. If not, a good neurologist will be able to determine the cause and implement a diagnostic and treatment plan.
This is what I would discuss with your pediatrician at the next visit. There should be no problem getting a referral for a good pediatric neurologist.
