Suggest Treatment For Strange Sound In Ear

Question: hi my grandmother had a operation for hole in ear drum 45 years ago, now today the same ear is causing problem, she is hearing some type of sound. we had consulted doctor, he had given some medicine but the pain is still there, please suggest any medicine or drop....

If I were your treating Doctor for this case , I would advice you
Ear drop Neosporin H 3-3-3-3 for pain .

Foreign sound in ear is common after ear surgery .
Use steam Inhalation twice daily, continue neurobit trucef .

Certainly above treatment will give you much relief but if relief is not upto satisfaction level then consultation with your ENT doctor will become essential.

hi Sir,

Thanks for the medication and advice. we tried that ear drop but pain is still there, it is unbearable. we have consulted doctor and he told to do operation.
But at this age we are not taking risk of operation so please suggests some medications or ways which will reduce the pain.

And for second ear (left one) the two membranes are stuck to each other, the doctor has told us that he will put some ring to separate them. Should we continue with this or should take some medication??

Thanks for the follow up query.

Most likely your grandmother having unsafe ear disease or Malignant otitis externa causing so much pain & Foreign sound . Unsafe ear disease or Malignant otitis externa need operation , regular follow up & ear cleaning .

Most likely left ear having retracted ear drum , which will need grommet insertion .

I would advice take opinion of some other ENT specialist & if require get ear clean . High dose pain killer tablet should be avoided at this age .

Use ciplox D ear drop also & continue Neosporin H ear drop .
