Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I read carefully your query.

Usually diverticulitis is not hereditary. There are other risk factors that increase the probability of diverticulitis like obesity, diet (low in fiber and high in fat) ,sedentary life ,aging etc.
Usually dieverticulitis causes abdominal pain ( in the lower left side of the abdomen or in the right) ,bloating, constipation or diarrhea, fever.

You might have a gastrointestinal infection ,diverticulitis (this would explain the presence of blood in stool).
If you are having frequent bowel movements ,your doctor may order a stool test and a complete blood count to see if there is any sign of infection.
If the ultrasound is normal ,and your symptoms persist you may need to do a colonoscopy or CT scan.

Hope it helps.
Let me know if you have any other question.I will be happy to help.

Kind regards,
Dr.Rovena Murati
