Thank you for writing on health care magic

I have gone through the X Ray report.. Your neck does seem to have significant changes for your age...I will ask you a few more queries to see what sort of arthritis we are dealing with...It has to be distinguished between the inflammation one and the other is mechanical one( posture related) as the treatment varies a lot...

1. Do you have any early morning stiffness in the neck ??

2. DO you experience low back ache also?

3. DO you have difficulty in turning position at night?

4. ANyone in your family with similar complaints of neck pain and backache??

5. Have any blood test been done so far?I would like to check for ESR, CRP and HLA b 27...

6. Any other joint pains like knees elbows or ankles??

DO let me know these queries. The OSteophytes mentioned on X ray do indicate something is happening and we should figure out a way to stop it.

Await your reply

As far as I know, my family has no arthritis. I dont have any difficulty when turning position. And I not feel pain in my back. I not feel Any other joint pains like kness elbows or ankles. The only thing I feel is discomfort in my back and my neck. Rigidity also feels stiffness in the jaw. I did xray for my chest everything normal. I did the complete blood test. Only my cholesterol is high.

Sorry for the late reply

Had a long day at work...

Well, the stiffness and rigidity can be one of the inflammatory arthritis known as Spondyloarthopathy. I am not sure if they have performed ESR and CRP levels for you to check for inflammation. If you can look up the reports that can be helpful..Also I would like to check for HLA B 27 in your case....

2. The stiffness you are experiencing can be due to Osteophyte formation( that is extra bone formation which is linking the 2 bones and causing restriction in your movement) as mentioned in the X Ray. We need to look at the x ray of the mid spine as well or if possible an MRI would be helpful

3. As for Treatment, we need to give you a trial of anti inflammatory...Something Like celecoxib....Along with physiotherapy sessions. More than that regular brisk walk and yoga will be helpful....

But to conclude , we need to see what type of arthritis we are dealing with. High ESR , CRP would indicate inflammation and if HLA B 27 comes positive, it again goes in favor of inflammation...MRI would be helpful in seeing the rest of the spine along with any nerve compressions...Moreoever a trial of Celecoxib , is another test to differentiate between mechanical and inflammation type of arthritis

Do let me know for more queries....It may sound a bit confusing but this is recommended in any case of stiffness in the back
