Suggest Treatment For Stammering

Posted on Mon, 7 Jul 2014
Question: Hi,
I am facing this problem from a long time, I guess from the time when I was in 8th class. It is the problem of stammering. I usually stammer when I am too excited and try to speak fast. But I am always in control if my temper is slow and voice is down or in short when I am calm. I try my best not to speak fast but that is not always possible like when I am trying to make some point in public or when I am telling some exciting story to somebody. Please recommend me something that can help me improve.

Brief Answer:
Medications may help you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms. As of now, it appears to be a mild problem and there is no need to worry.

Meditation, yoga and regular exercises would help calm your mind/brain.

Piracetam (nootropil) tablets are also good for improving speech.

If you are getting anxious often, then, clonazepam tablets may be needed.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
