I am having medication as mentioned below.

As per doctor I am having spasmodic headache. I feel relieved while having medication, but once I stop it, headache starts. I am taking medication for 2 weeks now, but I got relief only 30%. Can you please suggest if I need to go through any medication or tests for complete relief.

Brief Answer:
Need investigations to rule out the cause.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

You have left sided unilateral headache in the occipital region. There are multiple reasons which can cause such type of headache like:
- Migraine
- Tension headache
- Neck muscle spasm ache
- Occipital neuralgia
- Mass lesion in brain
- Traumatic

As the doctor is suspecting spasmodic headache, he/she is suspecting it to be due to neck muscle spasms. To rule out other causes, you should ask him to get some investigations:
- MRI brain to rule out mass lesion like tumor, vascular malformation, benign lesion
- Visual acuity check up to rule out strain
- Neck muscle examination by him and physiotherapist to rule out spasm.

These basic investigations rule out almost 70-80% causes. After confirming the diagnosis, it is easy to treat the pain permanently.

Hope it will help you. Thanks. Take care.
