Brief Answer:
You need investigations/ specific medicines/ changed life style .

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for your query under HCM.
I have read your query carefully & understand your concern.
You had antibiotics for your dental problem, which was followed by frequent soft stools with lot of gasses since 3 months
* Post antibiotic diarrhea is due to disturbance of normal intestinal flora, which allows other uncountable bacterias which are in intestines to be active & produce symptoms . You have got it in spite of taking Lactbassilus, indicating very strong antibiotic consumption. It is usually a self limiting condition, after withdrawal of antibiotics , & needs maintenance of good hydration & light diet along with normal anti diarrheals to control it.
But some times when the reaction is severe, the intestines are inflamed & severe colitis follows .This also causes hampered intestinal movements & digestive deficiency-- which leads to loose motions & lot of gasses.
In your case of long standing diarrhea,l.
* Please consult your family physician for physical examination & investigations.
* Investigations like CBC/ stool examination routine & microscopic With culture & sensitivity if needful After these investigations & pin pointing the causative organism, doctor will prescribe specific antibiotics along with anti diarrheal medicines like Loperamides , lacto bassilus supplements & digestive enzymes . to kill the bacterias & strengthen your digestive system . Mostly the symptoms are controlled with this. Few people do need repeated courses to cure the cause./ Your doctor may refer you to gastroenterologist if he feels it needful.
* some life style changes along with medication will ease the healing as well as prevent recurrence.
- Drink plenty of boiled/ cooled water.
- eat easy to digest food ( non spicy, less oily, avoid fat food, avoid alcohol, smoking).
Eat small servings more frequently to full fill your caloric requirements.
- Try to maintain food hygiene/ serving hygiene/ your own proper hand washing.
- Keep some anti diarrheal at hand./ Domperidone you are using is is to prevent nausea/ Pantoprazole is to regulate excess acid secretions in stomach-- both the conditions being secondary to digestive disturbances caused by infective diarrhea.
- Please inform treating doctor about your antibiotic related diarrhea when you have to take antibiotic hence forth.
I Hope, the answer has provided sufficient information & help to you. Any follow up query is welcome.
Thanks.
