Brief Answer:
Most likely to be a lymph node.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. From your description and history, this small lump is most likely to be a lymph node.

2. Small sub - centimeter sized lymph nodes are not considered significant.

3. There are no the important structures there besides thd mastoid bone and overlying scalp. Hence you can just observe it.

4. If it increases in size or pains, get examined. If it remains the same size or decreases, no treatment is necessary.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
No. Not likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. No. Not likely.

2. Malignant change will cause rapid growth which can be easily detected here.

3. Malignant growths do not usually decrease in size and have a constant growth.

4. This is mostly a benign lymph node. This type of lump needs to be evaluated only if it grows.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Brief Answer:
This is common.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. This is common because lymph fluid flows and circulates through the lymph nodes and not a cause for worry. This movement is slow unlike blood in blood vessels.

2. There may be some mild residual inflammation or infection, hence get the drainage area checked thoroughly. If this examination is clear, there is no active treatment required.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards. .
