Suggest Treatment For Skin Rash On The Penis

default
Posted on Wed, 29 Jun 2016
Question: Looking for advice for a skin anomaly that has developed on my penis. I visited a Urologist 2x who didnt think it was anything to be overly concerned with and recommended Hydrocortisone cream. Applied for two months or so but not helping. A dermotologist on this site (Dr. XXXXXXX Kumar) recommended Fluticasone Ointment, a mild steriod I think, but my Urologist and a local Demromtologist office were unfamiliar with it and could not recommend an alternative.
Thoughts?

Brief Answer:
psoriasis of the glans

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with a rash on your penis. More than likely the rash is a form of psoriasis. The hydrocotrisone is not powerful enough steroid to make it clear your skin. I usually have my patients use triamcinalone cream and use it once daily till clear and then only as needed. you can't use it daily indefinitely as it will cause thinning of the skin. I would recommend asking your PCP to prescribe this as it will help control your problem. The psoriasis of the glans is a chronic condition and will have times of clarity and some times of flairs. The steroid cream will help reduce your flairs.
