Question: My mother (age 65, weight 50Kg, height 5.1 ) -

1. She is having stone in gall bladder since 15 years
2. She is having psychoanalytic pain in her neck.

She had low BP (60-70/100-110) in whole life. Now, since two months she is complaining high blood pressure (75/190). She went for medical tests (ECG, ECHO, KFT) which are very much normal. Currently, she has started the below medication for high BP.

Morning (after breakfast)
1. Telvas 40 mg
2. Amlod AC 5 mg

Night (after dinner)
1. Ecosprin AV 75 mg
2. Lonazep 0.25 mg
3. Nebi-h 5 mg

The current BP readings are -
Yesterday Morning - 45/100
Yesterday Night - 83/150
Today Morning - 51/104
Today Evening - 43/89

Now, After taking the medicine BP is very much low and she is complaining headache, feverish feelings, body pain and sour taste for the full day. Is above medication and dosage correct as per her age and weight? I am asking this because I got to know that 'Amlod AC' is restricted in many countries and has a negative impact on body. Could you please help me to clarify my doubt ? Do you want to prescribe some other medicine ?

I have written "psychoanalytic" instead of "spondylitis". Can you please help me

Hello,
Thanks for he query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
AMLODAC ( AMLODIPINE ) has definitely been banned in some countries but there is difference in opinion regarding this because various countries are still using it.
It has some side effects but they are not much and many reports have also said that it is a very good medicine to counter high blood pressure.
In my opinion you should not worry about it and can continue with it.
In general medicines prescribed to your mother are all right but since blood pressure has gone down quite a bit,so best would be stop NEBI - H and then keep a track of her blood pressure and her symptoms.
Further adjustment can be done after few days.
No other medicine to be used at the moment and it would be better to apprise your treating doctor about it and seek his opinion also.
I hope it helps however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
ThanksĀ
