Suggest Treatment For Shoulder Fracture In A Heart Patient
Question: Hi,
I am again back to my query.
My father is heart patient, has two of stunt in his heart 4 years back. Right now He has his shoulder bone broken, which had two plaster for 2 months. and now treating Dr. suggested us for surgery. based on his weak health, age factor , we are avoiding for surgery.
Today again we visited one XXXXXXX orthopedic. He told us that because he is 70 year old and he has stunt in his heart, you avoid surgery. He is just weak . give him proper diet, this bone will be join to some place automatically. He told him to raise his hand, he was able to lift it till some point. He said he is allright, just dnt go for surgery.
I will attach his recent X-ray. Would like to know opinion for same.

Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for coming to HeallthCareMagic. I have gone over your fathers information in detail and scanned through the x-rays you have sent. Given your fathers advanced age and cardiac history any Anesthesiologist would be very scared to put him under anesthesia to tolerate surgery. The drugs from the anesthesia themselves are very demanding on the body and they they can cause heart attacks and arrhythmias of the heart.
So if your doctor is recommending conservative care without surgery. That may be best. If you want more details. Try and give me your dads blood work and EKG reading and I will try and give you a basic assessment. Remember though, I cannot examine him, so all i can do is review is diagnostics at best.

Hi, upload the EKG and I will look at it with you. As far as keeping his hand in the same state. I'm guessing that he has come to the point where the surgery is his last resort. If he cannot handle surgery, then it would be best if he got regular physical therapy to keep the arm XXXXXXX and useful. A good Physical Therapist will be able to help you with that.
