Suggest Treatment For Short Term Memory Loss And Headaches

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Nov 2015
Question: Over the last year, I have found that my recall of short term memory is increasingly getting worse, I have trouble recalling words to express myself, my words come out jumbled or out of order sometimes, and I have daily headaches. Is this something I should be worried with? I am a 42yo female.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Several conditions may affect memory. More information needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

Among the most probable conditions that affect memory functions are dementias, but at your age it is a rare condition.

Other possible conditions that may affect memory function include drugs side effects, use of alcohol, depression disorder, low thyroid gland function, low levels of vitamin B12.

So, more information about your general health condition such any drug you use, habits, any previous head trauma, stressful situations, any previous medical checkup etc. is needed in order to have a better understanding of your concerns and to give you a more accurate answer.

Anyway, you can discuss with your primary care Doctor, or with your Neurologist about having done proper neuropsychological tests ( mental state examination eg. ) in order to narrow the possible conditions that may affect memory.

Awaiting for more information....
