Question: hi,

i fell down the stairs and hit my back in several places. i am in pain but can move slowly. what should i do to help with th pain?

If there is no sudden sharp pain on oveent then a bone injury is not likely. It is likely to be a soft tissue injury only if you can stand and walk without acute pain.
In that case you need to have bed rest. For symptomatic relief:
1. Give enough rest to your back. Avoid walking.
2. Take mild pain killers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
3. Stronger prescription NSAIDS with muscle relaxants may help if simple analgesics do not help.
4. Do a cold compress on the area of injury.
I recommend you to consult an Orthopedician in case there is persistent acute pain and swelling for proper examination and investigations like MRI scan.
