Question: Hello. My friend has shaking in his left thumb for 2 days now. I t happened 2 months ago and went away. He also has headaches almost daily. Can you give me an insight into the causes?

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. Shaking of thumb ( or muscle twitching) may have several causes: overuse of the muscle,nutritional deficiencies (magnesium, calcium), carpal tunnel syndrome or restricted blood flow, side effects of drugs, anxiety, caffeine exces.
Chronic thumb twitching is usually a sign of more serious neurologic disorders. Thes include : Parkinsonism, Multiple Sclerosis, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. So I suggest your friend to consult a Neurologist and to discus problems mentioned above. Headache may or may have not the same cause with thumb shaking. Hope this answers your question.
