Question: I have had a stomach ache for a week. It started with an all you can eat sea food dinner and that night at 2 am I woke up with a stomach ache. I have had ibs for years but nothing like this. It gets worse when I am lying down. Walking around or even sitting up helps. This is not cramps or bloating but a hard ache in the middle of my stomach.

Please provide information by email. I do not have a XXXXXXX phone.

Brief Answer:
It could be food poisoning.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
As you are saying you started to develop pain after eating food (fish), so it might be food poisoning that must have caused the pain.
As you have IBS already it might be small super imposed mild bacterial infection.
Firstly I would want to know if you have any associated symptoms such as nausea (sensation of vomiting), vomitings, loose stools, fever( such as increased body temperature and myalgia).
What is the exact site of pain? Do you feel any discomfort while urination?
If you have symptoms please consult your physician or a gastro enterologist and get yourself evaluated with tests such as complete blood picture to see if there is any infection, routine stool examination with ova and cyst, urine routine examination to rule ant urinary tract infection and an USG abdomen to rule out any other cause of pain abdomen.

Meanwhile I suggest you Antacids like Omeprazole ( prilosec). You should take it half an hour before breakfast. Probiotics including yogurt may help you.
Avoid spicy food.

Kindly get back to me with details.
Thank you.
