Question: Hi,
I hope you're having a good day. My son has a horrible rash on his face. It is not symmetric, but rather random places and sizes and has a bumpy type of texture. It just started 3 days ago but is rapidly spreading across his face. I do have a picture...

Brief Answer:
Kindly upload an image for review!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about the rash your son has. To be of most help, it is necessary to see this rash so as to make a diagnosis and provide guidance. Without seeing the rash, the response would lack a personalized touch and might not be most helpful. This wouldn’t be value for your money. However, most rash is caused by viruses and do generally resolve without need for special treatment.

Brief Answer:
This is impetigo!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the images.

I have reviewed them fully. This is suggestive of impetigo. Antibiotics would be needed if the number of spots are more than 6. In this case, amoxicillin/flucloxacillin is good. If they are less than 6, cleansing daily with an antiseptic such as betadine would be okay.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me.

Hi, I took him to the urgent care and they suggested maybe a MRSA infection or a virus. They did take a swab. He is allergic to penicillin sotheygave home some other kind of anti biotic. I can see your diagnosis fits better but you also didn't know that my son and my husband are MRSA carriers so maybe that's why they were concerned. I'll let you know what they sya
